New release with highly talented Violinist Marlene Hemmer :
3 sonatas for piano and violin by J. Brahms, Marlene Hemmer / violin, Paul Komen / piano
After receiving many prices at various national and international competitions Marlene Hemmer decided to work in silence preparing herself for a great start of her carreer. Marlene Hemmer proved with her first recording for DRC that she was right to do so. The 3 sonatas were recorded many times by legendary musicians over the last 50 years, and still she seems to be able to point out her strong and convincing vision on these works, deeply rooted in the cultural inheritance she is definitely part of. She seems to be able to handle these sonatas with utmost musical integrety. In trying to reach out for the real soul of this music she is in no way seduced by any superficial or comfortable attitude. Her way of playing is touching, technically impressive and she exposes emotions without any false sentiments. Paul Komen, piano, who earlier recorded for DRC the 24 preludes for Piano-solo by Wim Zwaag, knows very well how to fit in Hemmers playing by not only his flexibility but also his wonderful sound he always knows to extract from the piano.
